OUR SIRES
What we look for...
When selecting a sire there are a number of key attributes that we look for. We like a more moderate sized bull that offers good carcass traits without compromising on calving ease and female progeny femininity. We also believe that bulls should have longevity in our herd, and therefore must be structurally sound, with good feet and legs, as well as having a tidy sheath. A quiet temperament is also essential, both in the sire and his progeny.
SAMARI PLAINS FLETCHER (SC)
PROGENY
Fletcher is one of our current sires. Into his third season, Fletcher has proven to be a hard worker covering herds of
50 cows or more. His calves have low birth weights, quiet temperaments, and good growth. We are also very
impressed with the consistency seen in his progeny.
NESLO 4135 VK DOLLAR (PS)
PROGENY
Purchased in 2017, Dollar, was a bull with plenty of thickness and muscling. He sired some very handy calves. A number of his daughter's are showing great potential in our herd.
NK ROCKET FUEL (P)
PROGENY
Purchased at the RBWS 2016, NK Rocket Fuel was a beautiful natured bull with good bone, and plenty of beef. His first calves hit the ground in late 2017 and we are very impressed. They are displaying impressive growth, are clean underneath, and have ample bone. We hope to retain one of his sons to carry on his good work in years to come.
BROLGA GULLY BOSS (SC)
PROGENY
Sired by Craigisla Super Star 1140 (P) and out of a proven dam Boss has delivered a consistent line of progeny that have their sire's excellent temperament and easy doing ability. His calves are early maturing, moderate framed cattle that display a lot of the traits we strive for.
MT CALLAN HERO (SC)
PROGENY
Mt Callan Hero (Sc) was a long serving sire in our herd. He bred us some beautiful cows with excellent mothering abilities. He also sired some impressive bulls. Of note is Brolga Gully 2254 (P), sold to Elmo Brahmans, Baralaba, who has gone on to be influential across the industry.
